The Christmas Markets or "Christkindelsmärik" :
From 28/11 to 23/12 : open every day from 10 am to 8 pm, except 24th and 31st December, closing time 5 pm.
From 26/12 to 30/12 : open every day from 10 am to 17 pm.
Every year since 1570, Strasbourg has accomodated the Christmas market, the famous "chriskindelsmärk". Essentially devoted to crafts and Christmas decorations, this market has succeeded in preserving the authencity and spirit of the Christmas period.
Place Broglie and Rue de la Comédie : from 28th November to 31st December (except 25th December).

The Giant Christmas Tree : An enormous fir-tree from the Vosges forest will be put up in Place Kléber and decorated with fairy lights and Christmas trimmings.
"Bredle" Market : Small Christmas cake making and tasting offered by the Strasbourg bakers and Bas-Rhin confectioners corporations. Sale of Christmas cakes, "pain d'épice" (a fine Alsacian gingerbread), kugelhopf cakes... In the week, from 11am onwards and from 10 am at the weekend, from 28th November to 31st December. Admission free.

The ice-rink : from 29th November to 31st December. Admission free.

The Christmas illuminations : throughout the Christmas period Strasbourg is one of the best illuminated cities in Europe.
A "path of light" will guide you from the cathedral to the railway station through some of the most typical parts of the town. Until 3rd January 1999.

Conference for general public about the Christmas Star which will seek to explain the astronomical phenomenon which appeared at the birth of Christ.
1. CHRISTMAS TRAIL : Accompanied by a qualified guide, discover in the illuminated town, the Christmas markets, their history, local crafts and Christmas traditions in Alsace, on Saturday 28th November, 5th,12th, and 19th December at 4:30 pm.
Meeting place : Tourist office, 17, place de la Cathédrale.

2. Explore the Cathedral quarter and the Petite France. Accompanied by a qualified guide, from the 1st December, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and every day (except 25/12) from 21st to 31st December.
Begins at 3:30 pm from the Tourist office, Place de la Cathédrale :

The Gold Crown, Vineyard of Strasbourg : Discover through this exhibition the history of the links which unite Strasbourg and this vineyard, but also the specificity of its vines and the art of its wine production.
The wine will be on sale and wine tasting will be offered.

Museum of modern and Contemporary Art : New and prestigious collections to be discovered : Miro, Picasso, Arp, Doré
Presentation of the work "Christ leaving the Praetorium", by Gustave DORE, in the course of its restoration.

Space in 4 dimensions : The Strasbourg planétarium presents an exceptional hologram exhibition, from Monday to Friday from 2 pm to 5 pm, on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Christmas Concerts : For a month the whole town will vibrate to the sound of classical, spiritual, jazz concerts... More than fifty concerts and shows will be an offer, some of which will be free of charge.
