Musée Zoologique

Imaginations run wild, naturalists are enthralled and children are filled with wonder as they wander through the immense rooms of the Museum of Zoology. Everyone who visits the museum finds enjoyment in learning and understanding. In one room we discover a magnificent coelacanth, in another, an imposing African crocodile, further along we come upon extinct species such as the Great Auk or the Heath Hen and every now and then we stumble upon something that makes us chuckle. Our curiosity is aroused as we go back in time contemplating the amazing natural history laboratory of scholar Jean Hermann.

And we can marvel at the wonders of science.

In recent years, the more than one hundred-year-old museum has undertaken a complete metamorphosis. The reception area has been remodeled, a gift shop has been added and a hands-on early-learning center has been created; renovation is truly under way.

In addition to the permanent exhibits and libraries, numerous activities centered mainly around environmental education help people to learn about science and technology: temporary exhibits, discovery workshops for young people, nature clubs, field trips, traineeships, conferences and guided tours.
Thousands of insects, birds, mammals and marine invertebrates invite you to visit them. This site will guide you to them and will lead you to splendid discoveries.
